小说《了不起的盖茨比》中运用了大量的象征手法。本文通过对小说中该手法的分析阐释了主人公盖茨比所代表的“美国梦”的破灭 ,所谓的“美国梦”本身就是一个理想 ,只不过这一理想主义已变得岌岌可危了 ,最后终于在一个理想沦落、贪得无厌、物欲横流的世界中荡然无存了
Abstract：Symbol is widely used in The Great Gatsby. In analyzing the usage of symbol, this paper interprets the scattering of the American dream which is only an ideal and disappears in the vicious world.
